I am here to help.

“Your trials did not come to punish you, but to awaken you” - Paramahansa Yogananda

My approach

If you’re seeking support for anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, relational issues or life stressors, I am here to help.

My approach is collaborative, curious, empowering and action-oriented. Beyond the basics of a warm, welcoming and non-judgmental environment, you can expect me to hold you accountable and gently challenge you in ways that facilitate growth.

Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is one of the most important parts of successful therapy. If I could accomplish anything in my work with clients, I’d hope that they feel unconditionally supported and empowered to identify and take action on what’s important to them.

As an Acceptance & Commitment Therapist, I help people get closer to what’s important and meaningful while effectively handling the challenging thoughts, feelings and situations that inevitably get in the way. I also embody the flexibility that I teach to clients by adjusting interventions as needed and incorporating a range of evidence-based approaches (and a sprinkle of humour!)

I will meet you where you’re at and we will create a treatment plan that meets your unique goals, values, strengths and resources.

I try to keep sessions conversational and easy-going to help us explore painful and difficult topics. You are the expert of your own life and my role is to be your teammate as we work together towards your therapy goals.

I have experience and training in:

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT)
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Trauma-Informed care
  • Attachment-based
  • Exposure Therapy including Exposure & Response Prevention (ERP)
  • Relapse Prevention

Meet Heather

Welcome! I’m so happy you made it here. It takes a lot of strength to acknowledge our challenges, reflect on our pain and reach out for support.

I think that being a therapist is the best job in the world. My goals are providing unconditional support, instilling hope and improving your ability to face life’s challenges. It is my honour and privilege to help people gain insight and take action in meaningful directions.

I support people struggling with addictions, mental health challenges, life transitions, relationship issues, burnout and low self-esteem.

My clients describe me as someone who is down-to-earth, understanding, enjoys a good laugh and provides a comfortable and safe environment.

Qualifications & Experience

I am a Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Psychotherapist with both Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Social Work. I am a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers & Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers.

I have experience working in interdisciplinary teams within inpatient and outpatient mental health & addiction facilities in both public and private sectors. My work experience includes crisis and urgent psychiatric care, addiction therapy, 1:1 and group psychotherapy for various mental health concerns, family work, psychoeducation, resource planning and relapse prevention.

Actively engaging in clinical supervision, trainings and workshops helps me be the best clinician that I can be. I believe that ongoing reflection, education and training is a very important part of being a therapist.
